EV Charger Installation Checklist

Use this before requesting a Level 2 EV charger quote so the panel capacity, cable route, mounting location, and permit considerations can be reviewed properly.

Before You Request a Quote

What to Prepare

  1. Take a clear photo of the main electrical panel with the panel schedule visible.
  2. Take a photo of the proposed charger location, including the wall, parking position, and any obstructions.
  3. Estimate the distance from the electrical panel to the charger location.
  4. Confirm whether the charger will be indoors, outdoors, in a garage, on a driveway, or near a carport.
  5. Note the charger model, if already purchased, including Tesla Wall Connector or universal Level 2 charger.
  6. List any other planned electrical additions, including a generator, second EV, hot tub, workshop, remodel, or HVAC upgrade.
  7. Check whether HOA, landlord, property manager, or building approval may be required.
  8. Tell the electrician whether fast maximum charging or reliable overnight charging is the practical goal.

Why This Helps

Better Information Means Better Scope

EV charger pricing depends on more than the charger model. Panel capacity, existing loads, cable route, amperage, mounting position, and local permit requirements can all affect the quote.

LCF Electrical reviews the practical conditions before recommending a charger-only installation, load management, a lower output setting, sub-panel work, or a panel upgrade.
